About The PART Initiative
Project for Accessible Radio Telescopes (PART)
Who We Are
Our names are Narayan Dwan-Holland, Aliana He, Kevin Fang, Emma Enyu Zhang and Yanfu Fan.
As students from Narrabundah College, ACT, and participants of the Science Mentors ACT program, we formed PART to design and distribute accessible radio telescope systems.
Mission
We aim to produce a simple and reliable telescope design under $500, capable of recording signals in the 21 cm hydrogen line region.
Our design includes a weather satellite dish, conductive base, low-noise amplifiers, bandpass filters, a software-defined radio, and a motor system.
Impact Goal
We seek to manufacture 25 telescopes and distribute them freely to rural schools where access to advanced astronomy equipment is limited.
By improving access to scientific tools, we aim to reduce STEM opportunity gaps between metropolitan and remote learning communities.
